El Rufai to sue over claims he declared N90bn and 40 houses as his assets
So earlier today a certain media platform, The Union, reported that Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai had declared N90 billion and 40 houses in the FCT as his assets before the Code of Conduct Bureau.
After a busy few weeks as governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai is dismayed by the blatant falsehood being practised as journalism by The Union newspapers. He has consequently directed his legal team to vigorously enforce his rights to protect his reputation from the vandalism of irresponsible hacks.
The Union chose to write a spurious story alleging N90b as his assets declaration without seeing the declaration made by Malam El Rufai.
The circle of blackmail that did the story claimed they heard a rumour, and they pursued the rumour so vigorously they transformed it into news. When some of their cohorts made contact with the governor’s media team insisting that they respond to rumour, they were told that it is better if they chose the more legitimate route of agitating for a public asset declaration.
Fair minded people who read the story will notice that it is not grounded in any evidence. It is just the animus of blackmailers who regard Malam Nasir El-Rufai as easy prey. But since his reputation is not based on purchased kudos, he cannot be compelled into accommodation with venal people masquerading as journalists.
Malam Nasir El-Rufai is a privileged Nigerian. He qualified as a chartered Quantity Surveyor early in life and became a dollar millionaire in his twenties. He is a respected leader in in his professional field but as successful as he has been in his career, he certainly has neither N90 billion nor 40 mansions.
He will not be distracted from his total focus on making Kaduna great again. In this endeavour, he will continue to be accessible to practitioners of responsible journalism.

"Governor Nasir ElRufai of Kaduna State has declared his asset. He is worth N90 billion. The governor’s assets declaration came as a big shock to most Kaduna residents yesterday as he allegedly declared ownership of 40 mansions, most of which are located in Abuja. Kaduna State Director Code of Conduct Bureau, George David, however, declined to comment when contacted." The Union wroteReacting to the publication, El-Rufai, through his media aide, described it as false and says they will be suing the publishers. Find the statement signed by the governor's media aide, Samuel Aruwan after the cut..

Again two suicide bombers blow selves up as Osibanjo visits Borno
Two suicide bombers on Wednesday morning accidentally blew up themselves at Molai Leprosy/General Hospital and about 100 metres away from a locally established market, living both of them dead with two people injured as many residents including admitted patients and hospital workers scamper for safety.
The suicide bombers were suspected to be terrorists who sneaked into the city from Sambisa forest, a fortified camps of the Boko Haram sect.
Molai village is south and about 10km drive to Maiduguri along the closed down Maiduguri-Damboa- Biu road, unfortunately, after the closure of Dalwa main market which is a stone throw to Molai, another market was established for people around neighbouring villages
Just last week Saturday 27th of May, 2015, two suicide bombers who were suspected to have been targeting a locally established market in Molai village which is an outskirt of Maiduguri metropolis detonated their explosives at the main gate of the missionary Leprosy and general hospital Molai, killing five people including the suicide bombers.
The fresh twin suicide bombing which took place at about 11am Wednesday was coming at a time and a day when the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo paid a one day visit to victims of insurgency in the state.
Eye witnesses and sources said, the first suicide bomber detonated his explosives he was carrying at the same entrance/gate of the hospital injuring two passersby, while the other one who was riding on bicycle accidentally detonated his explosives at the back of the hospital before reaching the fence at the backyard, killing himself only.
Our Correspondent report that Professor Yemi Osibanjo’s one day working visit led to closed down of major roads and streets causing serious traffic jam and closure of shops, stalls, schools and offices.

Lagos gives ultimatum to Okada & tricycle riders
The Lagos State Government has issued a 21 day ultimatum to motorcycle (Okada) and tricycle riders to vacate the restricted routes or face the full wrath of the law.
This was made known to newsmen by the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello after a consultative meeting with the leadership of the various associations of both the motorcycle and tricycle riders in the State.
At the meeting, the State Government frowned at the recalcitrant attitude of the operators by flouting with impunity the stipulated procedures guiding their operations.
The SSG told them that the State Government would not allow a return to the recent past before the enforcement of the 2012 Road Traffic Law where crime rate and road accidents caused by unruly motorcycle riders were prevalent, he therefore directed them to call their members to order.
He stressed the fact that the State Government realizing their value and contributions to the economy restricted them on 475 roads out of 9100 and refused to outrightly ban the use of motorcycles for commercial transportation like some other States, but warned that the operators should not test the might of the State Government.
Bello further said that the Lagos State Government being a listening and compassionate Government has directed a massive public enlightenment that will precede the full enforcement of the restriction order to sensitize the operators and the generality of Lagos residents on the need to conform with the dictates of the Road Traffic Law.
The leadership of the motorcycle and tricycles operators thanked the State Government for taking them into confidence, promised to pass the message to their members and carry out their own enforcement before the State’s deadline.
For the purpose of clarification, the guidelines for motorcycle and tricycle operations in Lagos State are contained in Section 3 and Regulation 16 Sub-Section 4, 5 and 6 of the Road Traffic Law which restricted commercial motorcycles on 475 roads out of the 9100 road network in the State, the wearing of standard crash helmet with full protection for both rider and passenger;
the carrying of only one passenger, non-carriage of children and pregnant women, non-operation of okada beyond 8.00pm in Victoria Island, IKoyi and Ikeja and 10.00pm in other areas of the State, no riding on the kerb, median or road setbacks or in a direction prohibited by law and respect for all traffic laws and regulations.

Read the press statement below...
Initially, I was accused of stealing N19.5bn of public funds when I was Minister of Aviation. It was thrown out by the courts. Then I was accused of stealing N6.5bn. It was thrown out by the courts. Then I was accused of laundering N200m. It was thrown out by the courts. Then I was accused of laundering N99m. It was thrown out by the courts. Finally, I was accused of laundering N1m and N1.1m respectively, and today, both of these charges have also been thrown out by the courts. I give thanks to God for today’s verdict.
It is the doing of the lord and it is marvelous in our sight. Once again, he has proved that he is faithful and true and that he always honors his word. I wish to thank my family members, leaders of the Body of Christ, intercessors, pastors, political associates and friends who never doubted my innocence and who stood by me through thick and thin.
I wish to thank my lawyers who worked so hard and so diligently over the last seven years throughout this case. I wish to thank the Nigerian judiciary for dispensing justice in an honest and God-fearing way and for refusing to be intimidated by anyone or guided by anything other than the evidence presented before them in this case.
They dispensed justice with candor and fairness, and throughout the proceedings, they were fair to all, honest, courageous, professional and true. I thank them for refusing to send an innocent man to jail and for refusing to allow themselves to be used as tools for personal and vindictive vendettas or political persecution. This gruesome ordeal started seven years ago and throughout that period, it was grueling and difficult.
They took seven years from me but they couldn't break me or end my life. It was a very difficult period for both me and my family which came with enormous and unimaginable challenges, yet from day one I never doubted that I would be vindicated because God had assured me of it and I know the God that I serve. He never lies and He never fails. He said, through his Holy Spirit, that my innocence would speak for me and that he would fight this battle for me and he did. He said that he is the author and the finisher of my faith, my shield, my glory and the lifter of my head and he was. He has proved all that throughout my life and he has proved it once again with the verdict in this case. To him alone be all the glory.
When the ordeal began seven years ago the Lord ministered that it would last for seven years but that in the end, I would be declared innocent, I would be vindicated and I would be delivered. Again he honored his word because the whole nightmare started on 1st of July 2008 when I was arrested in the premises of the Nigerian Senate after the public hearing on the N19.5 billion Naira Aviation Intervention Fund. I was cleared of any wrong doing in the administration of that fund by the Senate Commitee on Aviation yet despite that, immediately after the sitting before the Comimitee, I was abducted and arrested in an unceremonious and shameul fashion and locked up by the Farida Waziri-led EFCC for 10 days and charged to a magistrate court in Abuja.
Today, the 1st of July 2015, seven years to the day from that day when I was first arrested and first put into detention, I have been discharged and acquitted of all remaining charges by the courts. The Lord has, once again, honored his word, to him alone be the glory.
As a mark of honor and respect for the Lord and as an everlasting testimony of my love for and dedication to him, I wish to make it known to the Nigerian public that as from today my name will be changed. It will no longer be David Oluwafemi Fani-Kayode but instead, it shall be David Oluwafemi Olukayode. Olukayode means "the Lord has brought me joy" and today he has done precisely that.
As from this day, in honor of him and as a small tribute to my love for and total dependance on Him, that shall remain my family name. Once again, I give thanks to God for all that has happened to me and for this great deliverance. To him be all the glory. I swore that I would not leave the shores of Nigeria until this matter was finally brought to an end and the courts had pronounced my innocence. That was seven years ago. I kept faith with that oath and it gives me pleasure to tell you that now that the whole ordeal is over I shall be leaving the shores of my beloved country for the first time in seven years for a short holiday and a long overdue medical examination.
They not only threw the whole book at me but also the entire kitchen sink but the Lord was with me. I stood on His words in Isaiah 50 v.7-9 and I never faltered or doubted Him even in the most difficult times. Now they know that I serve a mighty God who never forsakes His own.
I thank the media for their constant support and attention and I thank the millions of Nigerian people that chose to believe in me and to keep faith with me throughout this ordeal. Once again, I give thanks to the Lord. God bless you all.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am delighted, humbled and relieved by this verdict. In the last seven years, I have been subjected to the most malicious, vicious, sinister, well-orchestrated, insidious and devastating form of political persecution and wickedness.
The whole process almost destroyed my life, my family, my reputation, my health and my career. I thank God for his goodness, his mercy and for the fact that today, the whole nightmare has finally come to an end.
