Nigerian man arrested in Iceland for infecting women HIV

A Nigerian asylum seeker who arrived Iceland in August has been arrested for infecting unsuspecting young women with HIV. The capital area police are investigating the case against the man, in partnership with the office of the Directorate of Health.
The man was arrested on Monday and will be remanded in custody while the initial investigation continues, according to a police press release.

The police statement says that part of the investigation includes finding out if any more women have been in contact with the man, and whether they might also be infected.

The statement talks only of a serious infectious disease, but chief epidemiologist Haraldur Briem confirmed with reporters that the man is suspected of having transmitted HIV. Neither Haraldur nor Alda Hrönn Jóhannsdóttir, deputy police chief, would discuss the case in further detail at this stage.
The HIV virus is spread through bodily fluids, including through sex and through blood for example by sharing needles. The only protection against sexually-transmitted HIV is the use of condoms, according to the Directorate of Health.

HIV is a life-threatening illness if allowed to develop without treatment. It can develop into AIDS, which causes the immune system to shut down and lead to death; often years after initial infection. There is not yet a cure for HIV, but it is controllable with medication and infection is detected through blood tests.

Details of the man’s suspected crimes have not been released. One likely explanation for his arrest could be engaging in unprotected sex with the women without telling them he has HIV—an act which would be against the law.

His name has not been released yet.

Witches pushed me to rape a 9yesr old girl says father of 3

A 39-year-old father of 3, Ekpeyong Essien, who raped a 9 year old girl blamed his 2 sons, whom he alleged are witches, for pushing him to commit the crime.Essien, who hails from Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State, had on July 12, raped 9 year old Bright Benjamin, at Hawkins Primary School in the Calabar South area of the state capital.
He said the girl had approached him for money to pay her fares home, but he simply instructed her to follow him to a nearby primary school where he defiled her with his fingers.Essien said his life became useless after his two sons were bewitched by one of his neighbours.Essien is currently in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Cross River State Police Command at Diamond Hill in Calabar and would soon be charged to court.“It was the handiwork of witches. Someone bewitched my children and my children in turn used what they have been given to affect my life negatively. The person who bewitched my children lives in our compound. What my children are doing with the witchcraft is to ensure that I become useless in life.“When I saw the girl, I called her and she followed me. I touched her a little before she followed me to Hawkins Primary School area in Calabar South. The place is close to the Hawkins cemetery and when I saw her, she was actually behind some group of persons that were going to the cemetery to bury someone.“She wanted me to give her transport fare back to her home. That was how I lured her with a promise to give her money. I have grown up children older than her. I do not know how she got attracted to me at that moment because I believe I was under the spell of my children’s devilish practice.“When I took her to one side of the school, I started romancing her. I did not force her to follow me, she did willingly. It was raining at that time. I had not seen her before. I only saw her on that day. I only fiddled with her private part, we had not really started making love before one security man in the school raised the alarm and I was caught.”He said he was a footballer with a local team before his children made him become useless.“I used to play football in one of the local clubs but my children stopped me through their devilish practice. I am not the only one that is accusing my children of practising witchcraft; other tenants in the compound also know,”.Essien, who regretted his action, is pleading with the parents of the girl to forgive him.“I wish I could see the girl’s father to beg him. I am willing to pay any amount that they have spent on her in the hospital. I am really regretting my action because I have never had a criminal record before,” he said. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, said the medical report after the incident showed that the girl had been defiled.“Because the suspect tried to penetrate and could not succeed, he used his fingers to defile her and based on the medical report, the girl has been defiled. The report showed bruises all over her vagina.“He actually heard the footsteps of someone coming and he ran away. The security man raised the alarm and he was caught. He is still under investigation and will soon be charged to court as soon as that is completed.”

Amnesty International considers legalising prostitution

500 Amnesty delegates from more than 80 countries will gather at an international conference next week in Dublin to vote on whether to advocate the elimination of all penalties for sex work, on the grounds that it is a matter of privacy between consenting adults. Simply put, the Human Right group will vote on a new policy that calls for the global decriminalization of sex trafficking.

The sex-trade policy, according to the group is the best way to respect, protect, and fulfill the human rights of sex workers.

Its Deputy Executive Director, Cammie Croft said, "Sex workers are one of the most marginalized groups in the world so it is important that we understand how, as Amnesty International, we can work to support their human rights.

The violations that sex workers can be exposed to include physical and sexual violence, arbitrary arrest and detention, extortion and harassment, human trafficking, forced HIV testing and medical interventions" “They can also be excluded from health care and housing services and other social and legal protection.” she added. -

CMD of FMC Owerri sacked. And the staffs rejoiced. (See photos)

Dr Mrs Angela Uwakwem has been in the news of late over the running battle she was having with the staff of the hospital because of some policies especially the private -public partnership  she introduced which did not go down with the staff of the center

She was also accused of nepotism, occultic practices within the hospital premises, high handiness and allegedly  enriching herself from the coffers of the medical center to the detriment of her former staff

At a point, the staff  of the center went on strike, demanding for her sack and from what we gathered, she was suspended on Monday this week to enable the investigative panel do their job without interference , an announcement that interpreted to mean that the thorn in their flesh have been sacked and that triggered off massive jubilation in the medical center and  the staff of the center went on dancing spree as the pictures below shows

We were told it was so serious that they invited a DJ for  the sack party

Senate probes alleged plot by 22 senators to sabotage Buhari

Following a publication in a newspaper, alleging that 22 northern senators of the APC, who took part in the vote of confidence on the Senate President and other leaders of the Senate, were plotting to frustrate the present administration, the Senate has directed its Committee on Ethics and Privilege to investigate the allegations.

The Guardian reports

The alleged report reads: “Twenty-two northern senators elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform have been identified as teaming up with the opposition to work against President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling party. “The senators allegedly teamed up with 46 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators in the Red Chamber to pass a confidence vote in the leadership of the Senate under Dr. Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu, a PDP senator. “Thirty-five APC senators were among the 81 who purportedly endorsed the vote of confidence in the principal officers of the Senate.”The report added that 22 out of the senators were from the North and were consequently accused of working against the party on which platform they were elected into the National Assembly.

Woman stabs robber to death in Lagos in Self defence

A middle-aged woman is currently recuperating in a Lagos hospital, after robbers stormed her rented apartment on the Lagos Island, during which she stabbed one of the assailants to death.

It was learnt that the woman, identified simply as Adenike, and her family were attacked on Tuesday at about 2am on Eyin Iga Street. It was gathered that the robbers, who were armed with knives and cutlasses, reportedly gained entrance into the house after damaging the gates.

It was also learnt that when the robbers got to Adenike’s apartment, a struggle ensued between Adenike and one of the robbers, identified as Quadri Iginla, who cut her with a knife. Adenike was said to have wrenched the knife from Iginla, and stabbed him in the stomach.

The robbery suspect reportedly lost balance and fell off from the two-storey building. Neighbours, who learnt of the robbery, were said to have alerted the police at the Adeniji Adele Division.

The other suspected robbers reportedly escaped after the police got to the area. The policemen were said to have rushed Iginla, who was unconscious, to the Lagos Island General Hospital, while Adenike was also taken by her family to a private hospital.

Unfortunately,  Iginla died in the hospital.

Adenike’s husband, who declined to give his name, said the robbers injured his wife.
He said,
“We cannot confirm the number of the robbers. They entered my apartment at about 2am. One of them injured my wife in the hand and there was a struggle. As this went on, other people called the police and a patrol van was sent to our street. “The robbers quickly fled from the house. One of them, who had sustained a knife injury, fell off the staircases. The policemen took him to a hospital for treatment.”A police source said that Iginla was not attended to at the general hospital for lack of a vacant bed.

He added that the robbery suspect died at a health center on the Adeniji Adele Road.

He said:
“The police patrol team responded to a distress call on the street at about 2.30am. A male robbery suspect, Iginla, was found injured. The suspect and others, who are still at large, allegedly entered Adenike’s room. While making away with possessions, the woman overpowered one of them, and stabbed him in the stomach. “She was also injured in the hand. During the struggle, others escaped, but the robber fell off the building. The police took the suspect and the victim to the hospital.”A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Iginla’s girlfriend showed up at the police station, and wanted to know where he was being treated.
He said,
“No one in the area knew the identity of the robber. His girlfriend showed up at the station, and was asking the police to let her stay with him, but they did not allow her.”

The knife has since been recovered, while the case had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation.

I am not expecting ministerial appointment say Pastor Tunde Bakare

In an interview with Sahara TV yesterday, the General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, said he is not expecting to be appointed a minister in President Buhari's cabinet.
"As far as I am concerned, I am not expecting to be named a minister. If I am offered an appointment, when I get to that bridge I will cross it. I am already a minister of the gospel. Ministry is my calling and my life. The word minister means servant. When you expect nothing, you cannot be disappointed. I keep on doing what I am doing, to be a solid supporter of the Buhari movement and what he stands for in public life. I have no regret on what I did in 2011. If an opportunity presents itself, I will do it again. I am not seeking anything.
“Let’s not count chickens before they are hatched. The bible says the expectation of the righteous will not be cut off. That is when the expectation of the righteous is in tandem with God’s expectation. If you are expecting from God, the flesh can fail. Who knows tomorrow? In the next two months, when the ministers would be named, what if nobody is here or alive? ”

British sperm donor fathers 10 children for strangers in 4months

Kenzie Kilpatrick's eighth child was born last week. He is thrilled, showing a picture on his phone of the girl - as yet unnamed - who arrived on Tuesday, July 21, at 10.44am, weighing 6lb 15oz.

He reads out a message from the mother, which says: 'I'm so happy to tell you that our little miracle baby girl is here. All thanks to you. She is beautiful.'.

The 26-year-old looks as proud as any new dad, but Kenzie will play no further part in this child's life. Nor will he be a parent to his 7 other biological children - all born, one after the other, in the past 3 months or the 2 who are due any time now.

So, 3 daughters, 5 sons, including twin boys, and counting. Half-siblings who share their father's DNA, but not each other's lives or indeed Kenzie's continued presence as they grow up
Kenzie, a single gay man, this week emerged as one of Britain's most prolific freelance sperm donors. Dubbed 'the Sperminator' by one radio station, at this rate - 10 babies in fewer than 4 months - he could father 300 children in a decade.
'When the last 2 babies are born, I will have fathered 10 children, all under 4 months old. It's amazing and I feel so proud,' says Kenzie, who has taken the rare step of speaking publicly about the hidden world of independent sperm donors.

So far he has helped 9 lesbian couples and1 heterosexual couple to become parents.
'It feels fantastic to have helped so many people in such a short space of time, but I've decided to stop for now. I may help provide siblings to my existing couples, but while I would never say never, I'm not on a mission to populate the world.'

Kenzie, who says he accepts no payment other than travel expenses, recites the name of each of his genetic children as he counts them on his fingers, but adds: 'Please don't ask me their birthdates. There are too many of them, I get confused and really they're not my kids. Any man can father a child, but it takes a parent to love them and bring them up. I see them as donations.'

Ever since Kenzie first offered his services for free in June last year via his Facebook group, called Drama Free UK Sperm Donors, he says he has been inundated with hundreds of requests from women desperate for a child.
Operating outside strict regulations which govern clinics licensed by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, Kenzie has no moral issue with fathering children by women willing to take a risk with someone who is effectively a stranger.

Buhari's appointment has shown his hatred gor igbos - Ohaneze

The Anambra State president of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr. Chris Eluemuno, said yesterday in an interview with Anambra Broadcasting Service in Awka that he's not surprised at the way the appointments of President Buhari is going, saying it shows the president's deep rooted hatred for the Igbos..
“I said it during the campaigns that General Buhari does not like Igbo people and it is happening now with all the appointments he has so far made since he came into office on May 29. He appointed five service chiefs and there is no Igbo man, even though Igbo have qualified people to occupy the positions. His party has completed the selection of principal officers in the national assembly and despite the fact that the speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara made case to apply the federal character in allocating the offices, the president jettisoned it through his intervention and left Igbo APC lawmakers out.“He also exhibited his vindictiveness during his recent visit to the United States of America, USA, when he travelled with only governors from his party, leaving out governors from the opposition parties.“He was also quoted as saying that he would favour those who voted for him and our position is that there is no way the president should expect all Nigerians to vote for him in the last presidential election. That statement contradicted Buhari’s earlier stand that he belonged to everybody and belonged to nobody.”Eluemuno also said that Buhari had no reason to discriminate against the Igbo because Igbonation played prominent roles in the development of Nigeria and should therefore not be discriminated against in the scheme of things.

According to him, apart from the Secretary to the Government of Federation, SGF, the remaining appointments are ministers and board members, which constitutionally must go to all the 36 states of the federation, adding that appointing an Igbo minister would not therefore be a favour to them.

On the president’s threat to probe only the Jonathan administration, Eluemuno said it would amount to witch hunt if he limited it to the immediate past administration, advising that the probe should start from the PDP civilian administration that began 16 years ago with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who governed for eight years.

Man butcher friend in Akwa Ibom (Graphic content)

Residents of Itu Road, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Wednesday, woke to a horror sight, following the murder of a middle-aged barber by a close family friend who was supposedly his boss.

Steven Onowa, a graduate of Federal Polytechnic Oko, from Anambra State, was arrested by men of the Akwa Ibom State police command over the murder of Daniel Bassey Solomon, his close friend and employee.

It was gathered that Onowa, who tried to escape after allegedly killing his friend and dismembering him, was arrested with the aid of a GSM tracking device employed by officers and men of the Police Force.
Explaining the incident which led to the gruesome murder of the said barber, who hailed from Uruan Local Government Area, the state Police Commissioner, Mr Gabriel Achong, said the culprit confessed to have invited his friend to his house and offered him a drink he had already poisoned.

Steven said:
“At about 3.00 a.m, I decided to kill him.“I gave him the first cut, the guy got up; I gave him a second one and he died and I butchered him to parts,” the suspect confessed. The commissioner, who confirmed that a quarrel had been on for the past two years between the ‘butcher’ and his victim,  even as their case file was still with the SARS department of the command, said the police were successful in tracking down the culprit through the assistance of his landlord, who kept contacting him on phone, as the police kept tracking the calls.
“After stabbing him to death, he used matchet to chop off his hands, head and two legs. He packed the parts in a sack, pulled it out of the house to the major street of Itu Road.”Apparently tired of evacuating the corpse to a safer place, he was said to have abandoned the deceased in a bag, removed the vital parts, including his two hands, which he dumped in a place along School Road and the head, which he hid in an abandoned dump site on the same Itu Road.

The suspect, who confessed to the crime, said he had called his victim on phone for an urgent meeting in his house, where he drugged his Orijin beer.

According to him, when the late Dan arrived, his killer entertained him with the drugged beer and it was not long before the deceased dosed off, giving his killer the opportunity to tie him, before stabbing him to death.

The suspect’s landlord, Mr Celestine George, who spoke to journalists at the police headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, said the police was called after the incident was reported and he had to put a call to the suspect and demanded for the balance of his rent.
“The suspect said he was about travelling and that he was with the balance which he would pay me before travelling. I then asked him to meet me at Itam junction, within the premises of a church where I had already told the SARS men to lay ambush for him.“I kept calling him until he arrived at the premises of the church where I tricked him to. He came in a car with three armed mobile policemen and I hinted the men of the SARS formation, who had laid ambush for him within the premises and he was apprehended and handcuffed.“The three mobile policemen were eventually overpowered by the SARS men and the suspect was arrested and taken to the police headquarters at Ikot Akpanabia,” he said. What annoyed the angry residents of Itu Road the most, according to a neighbour, “is the fact that the suspect, apart from being a close friend of the deceased, was also having an affair with one of the late Dan’s sisters.”

He disclosed that such close relationship led to the suspect opening a barbing salon for his victim along Urua Ekpa Road.

When interrogated by newsmen, Onowa claimed to have killed his victim for daring to raise his voice at him over his N750,000 he had refused to account for.
He said:
“We reported the matter to SARS about two years ago and he agreed on a timeframe to pay up the N750,000. Till today, he has refused to pay the money, so when I invited him to my house that day, he started shouting at and getting angry with me, so I killed him. I am not dealing in body parts. I only cut him to pieces to be able to carry him,” the suspect added.

FG goes after 'super rich' civil servants

The Federal Government’s anti-corruption operatives are now going after ‘super rich’ public officers who have multiple properties and other assets suspected to have been the rewards of graft. It was learnt, that the searchlight of the anti-corruption agents was on civil servants that possess many properties in the Federal Capital Territory.

It was gathered that in Abuja on Wednesday, operatives in the Assets Tracing, Recovery and Management Unit of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission had been asked to invite suspects for interrogation and recovery of ill-gotten assets in their possession. It was gathered that the ICPC had strengthened the ATRMU by posting more personnel to the unit to ensure the success of its campaign. An operative at the ICPC, who confided in one of our correspondents, said the ICPC was using the anti-corruption transparency unit of the commission in ministries, departments and agencies to coordinate the ongoing investigation of the “super rich” civil servants in the country.

It was learnt that the ICPC was relying on petitions from civil servants and the ACTU operatives to carry out its investigations into the activities of the affected civil servants. It was gathered that the ICPC operatives’ focus had been on civil servants who have more than three properties and a fleet of cars beyond their income.Although the source did not mention the number of civil servants that had been interrogated in relation to the new move to check fraud in the civil service, it was learnt that several personnel of the civil service had been placed under watch by the ICPC.

The source said any civil servant found to have compromised his office to acquire wealth would be charged to court after the proceeds of the corrupt acts would have been confiscated by the Federal Government.“The ICPC is intensifying efforts to retrieve some of these stolen assets from those involved.“You know that the commission has a unit called the Assets Tracing, Recovery and Management Unit. This is the unit that is involved in probing those who have such assets with stolen funds.“In fact the operatives are working very discreetly on the issue but the focus of the ICPC’s probe is the civil service.“Those civil servants living a life beyond their means, their lifestyles are under watch. People are monitoring them, whistle-blowers are writing petitions and the Assets Recovery Unit is following up on them.“Another thing is that we have the Anti-Corruption Transparency Units in all the agencies; these units are being supervised by our officers. They are collaborating with whistle-blowers in the various ministries and agencies…”The Resident Consultant, Media and Events of the ICPC, Mr. Folu Olamiti, said that he was aware of the presence of the ARMTU and its constitutional functions but asked our correspondent to call back for a response on the current investigation.

Port Harcourt, Warri refineries begin preliminary production

The Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Wednesday said the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries have been successfully re-streamed after a nine-month phased rehabilitation exercise conducted by its in-house engineers and technicians.

The corporation in a statement revealed that both plants have commenced preliminary production of petroleum products after successful test-runs, noting that while PHRC is ramping up its operation to about 60 percent of its 210, 000 barrels per day name plate capacity, WRPC production is projected to hit 80 percent of its installed 125, 000 bpd capacity.

The NNPC said the PHRC is projected to boost the nation’s local refining capacity with a product yield of 5million litres of petrol per day, while WRPC would contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol to local refining capacity.

Providing insight into the rehabilitation exercise, the NNPC noted that it had to adopt the phased rehabilitation strategy after the Original Refinery Builders (ORB) who were initially contacted for the project came up with unfavorable terms.

“Though a decision was taken in 2011 to rehabilitate all the refineries using the ORB of each of the refineries, we were impelled to switch strategy after the ORBs declined participation and nominated some partners in their stead who came up with outrageously unfavorable terms,” the corporation stated.

Caitlyn Jenner's TV show "I Am Cait" BOMBS In Rating And Reviews

Well it seems nobody cares about Caitlyn Jenner
or her story anymore.
The reality star's new show titled "I Am Cait"
premiered 3 days ago, and now the official
numbers and reviews are out.
The show which was expected to be the biggest
hit on TV this year actually failed to deliver in
terms of views or positive feedback.
Preliminary figures show the first episode to the
docu-series picked up 2.73 million when it
premiered in the US on Sunday evening. Although
the number is slightly higher than what "Keeping
Up With The Kardashians" gets every week, it's a
far cry from what was expected of the show.
Caitlyn's interview with Diane Sawyer pulled in 17
million views and her acceptance speech on the
ESPY awards pulled in 8 million views. Caitlyn's
new show doesn't even reach up to half of those
numbers.
Critically as well, the show is getting some
terrible reviews with a current 4.8/10 on IMDB.
The New York Times wrote: "There’s no reason to
doubt Ms. Jenner’s sincerity when she cites
statistics about suicide among transgender
teenagers or consoles a grieving parent, but you
also can’t help noticing how she seems to be
reading from a script."
Also, Slate’s television critic slated it for being
boring writing: "I Am Cait is a respectable TV
show with noble motives that easily evades my
worst anxieties for it. And in doing so, it slams
into what I never, ever could have imagined for it:
dullness."
It seems people are just not here for Caitlyn
Jenner anymore.

US Government gave Buhari names of oil thieves

According to a report by Punch, the US government handed over the names of Nigerian oil thieves to President Buhari during his last trip to the country. A member of the President’s entourage during the trip told the newspaper;"I can tell you that the President already has the list of names of the people engaging in the stealing of Nigeria’s oil. The list, when released by the President, will shock Nigerians.
