Wow! Meet Unoaku Anyadike the most beautiful girl in Nigeria 2015

Unoaku Anyadike beat 36 other girls to emerge the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2015 in a contest that held this evening in Calabar. She's stunning and tall. Congrats to her.

Do you want twins? Eat more yams. Read how.

<similar to American sweet potatoes in wonders as health and fertility enhancing foods>. I once saw this:
Welcome Visitors To “The Land Of Twins” on a large stone plinth on the road going into a town in the south-western part of Nigeria.
These people are crazy about their yams.

A study conducted at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, revealed more....... Yams contain phytoestrogens, weak estrogens that will inhibit the body’s own estrogen production in women who are estrogen dominant, it also contain a form of natural progesterone (dioscin).

Note: endometriosis and fibroids, are linked to estrogen dominance.

In women suffering from endometriosis and fibroids, the phytoestrogens and progesterone like properties in yams help regulate the estrogen progesterone balance.

The natural progesterone in yams help extend the luteal phase in women whose corpus luteum doesn’t produce enough progesterone causing early menstruation, also called luteal phase defect. And these phytoestrogens in yams counteract the effects of estrogen on the cervical fluid and make it too sticky for transport of sperm.

#Note: They can also thin the endometrial lining, similarly to the effect of the drug Clomid. So yams should only be eaten in the first half of the menstrual cycle. After ovulation you may need to say no to your cravings for yams.

*This is quite a remarkable phenomenon!

Wow! Its a boy for Stephanie Okereke - Linus

Stephanie Okereke Linus just announced that she has given birth to a son. Congratulations!!!!

The other side of Ogbono(Nigeria's most popular soup) nobody knows about

Thicken your food with this other seed "The Miracle African Mango"
Irvingia gabonensis (Ogbono), popular among the people from the Southern part of Nigeria.

It's food-thickening property is believed to be caused by mucilaginous polysaccharides, which become more viscous with cooking and is called “drawability.”

•Medicinal properties

A research study published in 2005 demonstrated that Irvingia gabonensis (Ogbono) resulted in greater weight loss and improved blood test results in obese human volunteers when compared with a placebo. According to the study, significant reductions took place in weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, and systolic blood pressure in subjects taking the Irvingia. Despite overall weight loss in this study there was not a significant reduction in body-fat percentage. This indicates that weight was lost from both adipose tissue and from lean body-mass and that these losses were proportionate to original body compositions.
A further, longer clinical trial published in 2009 reported both weight loss and per cent body fat loss.

Nutritive value of the kernels per 100g edible portion, which corresponds to about 2918 kJ of energy:
Fat 67 gram, Carbohydrate 15 gram, Protein 8.5 gram, Water, 4 gram, Calcium 120 mg, Iron 2.4 mg.
Besides the mentioned components, kernels of Irvingia gabonensis (Ogbono) contain traces of thiamine, riboflavin and niacin. The approximate fatty acid composition is myristic acid 33-70 per cent, laureic acid 20-59 per cent, oleic acid 1-11 per cent, palmitic acid 2 per cent and stearic acid 1 per cent. The contained amino acids are reasonably balanced for human nutrition. Since lysine, tryptophan, valine, threonine, isoleucine and phenylalanine have high concentrations in the seed, first limiting amino acids are methionine and cysteine.

*The pulp of the fruit of Irvingia gabonensis Ogbono, tastes juicy and sweet and is eaten fresh.

Nutritive value per 100g edible portion of fruit pulp, which corresponds to 255 kg of energy: Water 81g. Carbohydrate 15.7g, Protein0.9g, Fat 0.2 gram Phosphorus, 40 mg, calcium20 mg, vitamin C 7 mg, Iron2mg. The fruit pulp’s flavour components include zingiberene and curcumene, ethyl and methyl esters of cinnamic acid, dodecanal and dodecanol. This results in spicy-earthy, fruity, wine-yeast flavour notes.

Ogbono soup also known as Draw soup because of its slippery nature helps the lumps of solid food slide down the throat to the stomach. Enjoy!

Meet Jelani Aliyu, the Nigerian guy who designed the Chevy Volt

Jelani Aliyu, hails from Sokoto
State, Nigeria and is General Motors Lead Exterior
Designer and the designer of the Chevy Volt.
General Motors is one of the world’s largest
automobile maker. The car has been described as
an American Revolution and one of the hottest
concepts in the design line.
Jelani was born in 1966 in Kaduna, to Alhaji Aliya
Haidara and Sharifiya Hauwa’u Aliyu. The fifth of
seven children, theirs is a very close-knit family.
For him, it was an amazing experience growing
up in Sokoto, surrounded by the rich culture of
the people and the state and enjoying excellent
access to the latest and international information.
Jelani Aliyu
From 1971 to 1978, he attended Capital School,
Sokoto, an excellent school and this served as a
very productive educational experience for him. In
1978, he gained admission into Federal
Government College, Sokoto, from where he
graduated in 1983 with an award as the best in
Technical Drawing.
Jelani was privileged to meet and make many
good friends from all parts of the country and
beyond during this time. He had tremendous
encouragement and mentoring from his family
and friends and his creative art develop the ed.
He drew a lot, designed his own cars, and even
built scale models of them, complete with
exteriors and interiors.
After FGC, he got admission into the Ahmadu
Bello University, Zaria to study Architecture, but
soon discovered that curriculum did not support
his future vision and plans.
After considering other institutions in Nigeria and
their academic programmes, he concluded that
only one of them had the study criteria that
would support his future goals. The institution in
which he chose to pursue his education was one
he felt offered the best creative programmes and
had experience that would give him the best
foundation required to study Automobile Design
abroad. That institution was the Birnin Kebbi
Polytechnic.
He was there from 1986 to 1988 and earned an
associate degree in Architecture, with an award
as Best All-Round Student. While there, he did
some in depth research into home design and
construction, looking into materials and structures
that would be most compatible with our
environment and climate; buildings that would
stay cool in a hot environment with little, or no
artificial electrical air conditioning. Upon
graduation from the polytechnic, Jelani worked for
a while at the Ministry of Works, Sokoto.
In 1990, Aliyu moved to Detroit, Michigan to enroll
at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit
under a Sokoto Schorlarship board sponsorship.
Having always wanted to study Automobile
Design, this was a dream come true and an
absolutely fascinating experience. The course was
very practical and emphasis was put on creativity
and the development of new designs to provide
solutions . He received his degree in automobile
design in 1994.
In 1994 he began his career with the design staff
of General Motors. He worked on the Buick
Rendezvous and was the lead exterior designer of
the Pontiac G6. He also worked on the Astra with
General Motors’ Opel Division.
With his brilliant work on the design of the
Chevrolet Volt, which was unveiled in 2007, Jelani
Aliyu is considered by many to be the super star
of the General Motors renaissance.

Priccilia Chan, Mark Zuckerberg's wife to open a different kind of school in California

I'm so proud of Priscilla for starting The Primary
School -- a new kind of school that brings
education and healthcare together.
Health and education are closely connected.
When children aren't healthy, they can't learn as
easily. Many kids and teachers across the country
deal with the consequences of poor health in
classrooms every day.
Priscilla has seen this in her work as a
pediatrician and a teacher, so over the past year
she's been working with our local community to
set up a new type of school in East Palo Alto. In
addition to early childhood and K-12 education,
The Primary School will also provide prenatal
support for families and on-site healthcare for
children. By bringing healthcare and education
together in one place, the goal is to support
families and help children from underserved
communities reach their full potential.
On a personal note, it's inspiring to see Priscilla
grow as an entrepreneur and leader. I'm looking
forward to watching with pride as she develops
The Primary School into a great resource for our
community.

Check out this woman's unconventional method of weightlossA 25-year old plus-size woman has taken to pole dancing in order to lose weight, after struggling to lose weight at the gym. It appears to be effective because aside from shedding six stone in two years, she has stunned her friends and family with her flexibility and now hopes to enter competitions to showcase her skills.

Eda Marbury who works as an accountant coordinator, says she battled with an eating disorder for eight years as a teenager and young adult. At first she was reluctant to go through with it but the encouragement of husband Terrik who has always been a support helped her, she became hooked on the routine after her third lesson.

But one of Eda's biggest accomplishments was performing her routines at a showcase in front of 45 people, including her husband and parents-in-law. Eda's greatest supporter has been Terrik, who has known Eda for seven years. He said: 'Her pole dancing is sexy to me. I know a lot of people don't like it and a lot of people talk bad about it and frankly I don't care. 'It makes her feel sexy, it makes her feel happy and that's what I like about it'.

In August, a three minute video she posted on Facebook titled Eda's Climb To The Top' quickly went viral amassing eight million views.

Khloe's attorney Laura Wasser went into court this morning and asked the judge to withdraw the divorce petition that was currently being processed and awaiting a judge's signature. The judge granted the petition and the divorce case is now over.

The news comes just over one week after the E! star rushed to her husband's side at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas after he wasfound unconscious in a Nevada brothel on Oct. 13.

"Every day he is getting a bit better, but he is continuing to have extensive tests on his cognitive and motor functions, so no one can make a definitive diagnosis yet" the insider said, adding, "He is more coherent day by day."

Khloé and Lamar wed in 2009 following a whirlwind engagement. Their divorce was chronicled on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, as well as the spin-off Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons

Coronation Ceremony in Benin Kingdom

The coronation ceremonies of an Oba of Benin usually last about 10 days. They begin from Egua-Edaiken, the traditional residence of the heir-apparent to the Benin Throne. On a day fixed by the Edaiken, he is escorted by his Uselu people on his journey back to Benin City.

On the way he stops at an historical palm tree named “Udinama aimiuwa”(translated to mean “work before pleasure”) which the Edaiken “climbs” symbolically. This little ceremony dates its origin to the time of Oba Ewuare the Great whose life as heir apparent to the throne was characterized by long suffering which included periods when he personally had to climb palm trees on this spot to cut the fruits for a living. This act of suffering by the father of the first Edaiken has ever since been re-enacted in a symbolic way by every Edaiken. From the palm tree the Edaiken continues his journey to Benin City; but at the first moat called (Iya-akpan) in the vicinity of where the firm of Mid-Motors Nigeria Limited now stands, the Uselu chiefs in the procession take leave of the Edaiken and return to Uselu while the Edaiken is thereafter escorted into the City by Oredo Chiefs.

The Edaiken enters the City via Iguisi (now Lagos Street) and Proceeds to Eko-Ohae (bachelor’s camp) where he stays for three days. After three days at Eko-Ohae the Edaiken continues his journey to Usama. The venue of the traditional Coronation rites. Usama was the site where Oromiyan, the father of Eweka I, built the first Palace and all succeeding Obas from Eweka I, were crowned and lived there, until Oba Ewedo in the 13th century moved the palace to the present site in the center of the town.

The Edaiken remains in Usama for 7 days performing all the rituals and ceremonies of the Oba. Before the expiration of 7 days, he visits a village a few kilometers outside Benin, where he performs the ceremony for choosing the name he will answer as the Oba of Benin. This tradition started during the period of Oba Eweka I whose maternal grand-father, Ogie-Egor, lived in the next door village of Egor. When Prince Oromiyan left Benin, he left behind his Bini wife who was pregnant in the care of her father the Ogie of Egor. The woman delivered a male child who was dumb from birth. The maternal grand-father then sent home to Use, the mother’s village for treatment, but when he grew up and still could not talk, words were sent to his father at Uhe. His father sent 7 magical akhue with which the dumb Prince participated in the popular village game known as akhue. With only one seed remaining on the ground and every player having failed to strike it. The young Prince used the magical akhue from his father and succeeded in striking down the remaining seed. Excited by this feat, he spoke for the first exclaiming in Yoruba, Owimika (my hand has struck it). He later assumed this expression for a title which became corrupted to Eweka.

Having picked a name at use, the Edaiken returns to Usama where the crowning ceremony is performed by Oliha. The leader of the Uzama and proclaims Edaiken in his newly acquired name as the Oba of Benin. It is significant to note that until the ceremony at Use, the Edaiken never knows before hand what name he is going to be crowned with. From this moment also the Edaiken ceases to use his personal names and he is henceforth known by the new name of an Oba. Also significant is the fact that both at Egor and Use, there still exist almost in their Original form the shrines established by the diviners and the native doctors who brought the magical akhue seeds from Uhe.

After the crowning ceremony the new Oba then leaves Usama on the 7th day for the town centre to be proclaimed and presented to Benin people. On his way to the City he stops at Isekherhe to perform the ceremonial crossing of a bridge, a reminder of the day Oba Ewedo on a similar journey erected a bridge to enable him pass Isekherhe territory without stepping on the ground. After crossing the bridge the Oba and his entourage engage in a mock battle with Ogiamien and his followers.

The resistance of Ogiamien forces collapses while the Oba and his entourage proceed to Urho-Okpota. Urho-Okpota (the gate of Okpota) dates its existence to the era of Oba Ozolua about 15th centuary, and it is the area now known as “Ring Road” Including where Exhibition centre and the Local Government Secretariat now stand. Okpota was a powerful native doctor who prepared a charm of good luck for the Oba.

It is said that the charm which was buried at the gate of the Palace brought prosperity to the Kingdom. The Oba lodged Okpota in a house near the Palace in the area of the present day Exhibition Centre. The veranda to his house soon became a meeting place for the elders, even for the Oba, and Urhokpota has ever since remained a centre for meeting and useful deliberations. For the same reason Oba Eweka II chose the site for building the new Native Court, now known as Exhibition centre. The ceremony at Urhokpota completed. The new Oba then moves into the palace as the Oba of Benin. But he still has Ogiamien’s challenge to meet and so 7 days after, he assembles his troops and proceeds to Ekiokpagha where he engages in a mock battle with Ogiamien, a reminder of the real battle between Oba Ewedo and Ogiamien in the 13th century when the latter attempted to prevent the former from entering the city from Usama. By the treaty between the two, Ogiamien surrendered his claim to the ownership of land to the Oba.

Police killed Lekki Free Trade Zone boss Disu - Community members

Leaders of Okunraye community, one of the villages hosting the Lekki Free Trade Zone, in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State told a Lagos State High Court in Igbosere on Tuesday that the police were responsible for the killing of the Managing Director of the free trade zone, Alhaji Tajudeen Disu
This claim was in an affidavit in support of a Fundamental rights suit filed before a Lagos High Court against the Police, Directorate of State Security (DSS) and Dangote group.

The leaders who condemned the detention of  members of their community, alleged that contrary to reports on the incident, Disu was hit from behind by a stray bullet by the Lagos Mobile Policemen which killed him instantly.

The community also sued the Inspector General of Police, Lagos Police Commissioner, Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS), the Nigerian Army and Ibeju Lekki Local Government.

One Alhaji Surajudeen  Salami, who deposed to the affidavit recalled that the Lagos State Government, sometime in 2007, forcefully acquired their land from them.

Salami said the people of Okunraye had their homes and native buildings on the land, which was also their source of livelihood.

According to him, Disu was killed on a day the community leaders were to meet with Dangote Group, to discuss  job-related issues for eligible community youths in the massive project the company was erecting on their land.

Salami said they had made several attempts to discuss with Dangote management but to no avail, adding that the development forced the youths to barricade the entrance into the project site of Dangote in an attempt to compel the company to discuss with the community.

At about 9am, Salami said he was informed that a large group of mobile policemen had surrounded the entrance to the project and were burning down the barricade as well as other obstruction.
He said he remembered that the policemen stormed the community on the fateful day and started releasing tear-gas and shooting in the air, adding that at the time the shooting was on-going, the Divisional Police Office in charge of the area was at the palace of the Baale of Okunraye to discuss on how the issue could be resolved.
He said people rushed to the Baale's house to inform him of the commotion taking place. The DPO reportedly left the Baale's house to see what was going on. Salami said when he got there he saw Mr Disu and implored him to tell the Policemen to stop shooting because they didn't want to fight, rather they wanted to discuss with the Management of Dangite group but he refused.
Salami said:
“When we were imploring Disu, Alhaji Jegede and the Baale of Igiye Community to stop policemen from shooting because the members of Okunraye community did not want to fight and  wanted to discuss with  management of Dangote, the police refused to stop shooting and then a stray bullet hit Mr Disu from behind and he died instantly.”He said the bullet also hit a young woman from the community and she sustained injury on the arm.
Salami, who said he saw the policeman that pulled the trigger that killed Disu, alleged that the policemen stopped shooting when they realised that a stray bullet had killed Disu.

Saudi Prince's sexual assault case passed to LA city attorney after case was initially dropped

A Saudi Arabian prince, Prince Majed bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud,  revealed yesterday to be the son of the late King Abdullah,is accused of a having sexual relationship with a male aide, taking cocaine and threatening to kill women who refused his advances - as well as sexually assaulting a maid according to an exclusive report by Daily Mail Online.
The Prince now faces a series of allegations in a civil case brought by three female staff members of his Los Angeles mansion.Court documents seen by Daily Mail Online disclose how he is accused of being drunk and high at his $37 million mansion in Beverly Hills and repeatedly making unwanted sexual advances. The documents were filed by lawyers acting for three female employees of Al Saud.
They include a claim that the royal attempted to urinate on the trio while screaming: 'I want to pee pee'.
He also threatened to kill one of the women if she refused to 'party' with him and jumped on top of another and began rubbing himself against her in a 'sexual and aggressive manner'.When asked to stop, Al Saud allegedly then yelled:'I am a prince and I do what I want. You are nobody!'All three of the women claim to have seen the royal having his penis 'stroked' by a male aide and say they were forced to stay in the room and watch as the encounter unfolded.
Homosexuality is illegal in Saudi Arabia, and punishable by flogging, or even execution.
Another says she was made to watch while a different male aide bent over and farted in Al Saud's face, apparently at his request.

The revelations about Prince Majed come a day after it was revealed that Los Angeles District Attorney has decided to drop felony charges against the 29-year-old due to lack of evidence. Instead, the case has been passed to LA city attorney Mike Feur who will now decide whether to pursue misdemeanor charges – which could lead to a year in jail and a $3,000 fine should he be convicted. But lawyers for the women bringing the civil case say they are determined to succeed. The women, all of whom are married with children, say they still have not been paid by the prince and are hoping to recover their lost earnings.
The women's claims stem from a period between September 21 and September 25 when Al Saud was arrested and all took place at the Wallingford Drive mansion.

Shocking photos from a festival in Phuket

These shocking photos were taken during the annual vegetarian festival in Phucket, held at the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar. Slitting open their cheeks and forcing everything from guns, to electrical wire, to giant knives and even axes through the holes, were part of the ritual.

Most of the festival-goers, devotees of the Chinese Samkong shrine and the Chinese Ban Tha Rue shrine, choose to force weaponry through their cheeks, but others seem to have opted for anything they can find around their homes.

Oba gha to kpe re...iseee! Crown Prince Of Benin Kingdom, Eheneden Erediawa initiated into royal palace

THE heir-apparent to the Benin throne, His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, was on Tuesday, October 6, formally initiated into the Royal Palace Chamber of Iwebo in conformity with the Bini custom.

The colourful event which lasted for seven days took place in the Royal Chambers of the Iwebo group.
The event was officiated by the Iwebo chiefs, led by their functioning head, Chief Eribo, in the absence of Chief Uwangue, Head of the Iwebo group.
At the end of the seven-day event, the Crown Prince, in the company of many chiefs, prominent Edos and other well-wishers, moved from the Palace of the Oba to the Royal Palace of Edaiken N’Uselu, to formally assume his position as the Edaiken of Uselu.
This is a precursor to assuming the title of the Oba of Benin. It was a moment of historical reality and royal grandeur with traditional songs, and a complimentary outpouring of affections and solidarity from the people for His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Ehenede, Edaiken N’Uselu.
 Societies in Oba’s Palace
There are three main societies in the Oba’s Palace namely Iwebo, Iweguae and Ibiwe. Each society occupies its own section of the palace and entry into it is by special initiation usually lasting seven days. They were established during the reign of Oba Ewuare the Great in the 15th Century. In the 16th Century, two Obas, namely Esigie (1504 A.D.) and Ehengbuda (1550 A.D.) carried out reforms in Iwebo and Iweguae societies respectively.
Iwebo, the most senior society, takes charge of the royal ward-robe and regalia, making and repairing the coral bead garments and ornaments used by the Oba on ceremonial occasions. In the past, this society used to oversee financial matters, trade and commerce.
With the exception of Oloton, all the other six members of the Uzama have to be initiated into lwebo society as nominal members before they can assume their titles.
The Oba’s eldest son, on being initiated into it, has to attain the rank of Uko N’Iwebo (like every other member aspiring to a chieftaincy title) before he is formally conferred with the title of Edaiken of Uselu.
Iweguae is the centre of all the Palace activities and is next to Iwebo in seniority. Occupying the central position, this section of the Palace is the residence of the Oba and, therefore, its members provide him with his personal and domestic services. It is only after his coronation that the Oba can enter into lweguae and stay.
Chief Oloton is the only other Uzama who is a nominal member of this society. Ibiwe is the third society in the Palace and its duty is to look after the Oba’s harem; the welfare of his wives and children.
As in the case of lweguae, the Oba can only enter this section after his coronation when he has to inherit all the assets and liabilities.

Lamar Odom discharged from Vegas hospital, sent to Los Angeles for further treatment

Lamar Odom has been discharged from Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where he has been receiving medical treatment after being found unconscious last Tuesday, and is heading to LA, California for further treatment.
Doctors were in the early stages of yesterday, working out the logistics of how Odom would be transported to SoCal, because his stature previously prohibited him from being airlifted in a helicopter.
E! News reported that the former Laker's health is improving day to day, but that he will need "a lot" of rehab in the coming months.
Lamar is "making fast progress" and can move his arms and legs, but he is not able to stand up, even with assistance, there may be some cognitive issues ahead.
Though Lamar is still on dialysis due to kidney failure, he is showing signs of improvement.

Additionally, he is no longer wearing an oxygen mask and is "doing great with his breathing."

Khloé Kardashian accompanied him in the helicopter ride to Los Angeles.

Cancelled wedding becomes banquet for homeless (photos)

When 27-year-old Quinn Duane called her mother to tell her that her wedding wasn’t happening, that the groom-to-be got cold feet, the woman and her husband, who had spent $35,000 on the wedding reception, were shocked. It was supposed to be a beautiful banquet at Sacramento’s Citizen Hotel, overlooking the city skyline, and the deposits had already been paid.

Instead of calling off their daughter's wedding, the Duanes decided to keep the reception. But it wasn’t the original 120 guests who came Saturday – they invited a different group of guests - the Sacramento’s homeless population - to a free, extravagant meal. The family said they thought it was the right thing to do.“When I found out on Monday that the wedding would not be taking place, it just seemed like, of course, this would be something that we would do to give back,” Kari Duane tells KCRA News. The first to arrive was a woman who lives in a shelter for those who can’t afford rent but are too old to work. Then, more came. The room began to be filled with children, individuals, families, even newborns. The menu included salad, cauliflower, gnocchi, salmon, and tri-tip, similar to the food served at the hotel’s four-star restaurant, The Grange. According to one homeless guest, it certainly beat the food prepared at homeless shelters.“I think it’s very generous actually to lose out on something so important to yourself and then give it to someone else,” says Erika Craycraft, a homeless woman who came with her husband and five children. The meal was a joyful occasion from their typical endeavor to serve three meals a day.“When you’re going through a hard time and a struggle, for you to get out to do something different with your family, it’s really a blessing,” Craycraft’s husband, Rashad Abdullah, says.  Quinn Duane, the would-be bride, did not attend, instead opting to stay home with her friends. On Sunday, she and her mother will go to Belize on what would have been her honeymoon.

Man buries girlfriend in a shallow grave

The people of Ezeakam Eziudo community in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, Imo State, still shudder at the recol¬lection of the heinous act of their kinsman, 39-year-old Chamberlin Ojoko, who allegedly gave his pregnant girlfriend, Chinonye Ella, 25, a local abortion concoc¬tion.
The concoction caused fatal adverse reaction that resulted in her death, on July 20, 2015. Like some¬one acting out a well-scripted plan, Ojoko was alleged to have calmly gone home to borrow a shovel from his brother, Pastor Sopuruchi and buried the corpse of the deceased girlfriend in a shallow grave, which he dug at the back of an uncom¬pleted building owned by one Dr Maduakolam Ukaegbu, a kinsman.
According to the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, the chain of events that ultimately led to the untimely death of Chinonye began the day she boarded the same bus with Ojoko in December 2014, at Achingali, in Obowo Local Government Area, Imo State.
They chatted along the way as the trip progressed and then exchanged phone numbers. While Chinonye lived in Umuahia, Ojoko on his part resided in Port Harcourt. Over the intervening period, Ojoko regularly invited her to Owerri, where they would lodge in a hotel and have fun. After each visit, he would give her N3,000 to N4,000 to cover her trans¬portation costs. This continued until Chinonye informed him that she had become pregnant.
Apparently, the news that she had conceived was not well received by Ojoko, who set about sourcing for a local concoction, probably after convincing her on the need to abort the innocent unborn child.
Lakanu explained further that on July 20, 2015, the suspect took Chi¬nonye to an uncompleted building at Ezeakam Eziudo, his community, where he gave her the local abortion concoction. Within hours, her condition became critical as intense pain wracked her body, particularly around the stomach.
At the headquarters of the Imo State Police Command, where he is being held in custody while investi¬gations continue, Ojoko recounted to Sunday Sun, what happened that fateful night he gave his girlfriend the abortion concoction.
He said: “On July 20, 2015, I took my girlfriend to an uncom¬pleted building around 6:30pm. My girlfriend took the herbal medicine, but later she started writhing in pain. Then she died. I ran to my house and took a shovel; I carried her body to the side of the building. I dug the ground and buried her in a shallow grave.”
Believing in his heart that he had covered his deed like Cain, who killed his brother Abel, Ojoko re¬turned to Port Harcourt, to the warm embrace of his unsuspecting and pregnant wife. But unknown to him, a certain little girl had seen him carry out the dead body of Chinonye, and dump it in the grave he dug. The little girl later told the owner of the building about the horrific crime she saw. After the shock of the reve¬lation wore off, Dr. Ukaegbu ran to the Ezinihitte police station to report what he was told by the girl. The police station contacted the Head of the Homicide Unit at the Imo State headquarters in Owerri, Supol Inno¬cent Obi, who led his men, Pastor Sopuruchi Ojoko (brother of the suspect) and Dr. Ukaegbu, to Port Harcourt, where Chamberlain Ojoko was arrested.
Giving further insight to the inci¬dent, brother of the suspect, Pastor Sopuruchi Ojoko, told Sunday Sun: “I saw my brother Chamberlin Ojoko and his girlfriend on that day around 3.00pm. They didn’t enter our house in the compound; instead they walked toward Eziudo road. About 9:00pm, I saw that my elder brother, Chamberlin, returned to the house without the girl.
“He requested for shovel and took it to the bush. He didn’t return till 11:00pm. I asked him where he was coming from at that late hour; he said he went to the toilet. I asked him, why he came to the village without informing us. He replied that he was working at the building site. I saw bruises and wounds on his hand. When information got to us that my elder brother murdered his girl¬friend, I had to take the policemen to Port-Harcourt to arrest him.”
On August 15, 2015, the body of the deceased girlfriend was ex¬humed and autopsy conducted. The policemen discovered how he used the deceased girlfriend’s cloth to choke her. There were stains of the victim’s blood at the uncompleted building. The police also learnt that the suspect threw away the handset of the deceased girlfriend.
As it stands now, Lakanu said the Command is concerned to locate the relations of the deceased given that her handset which could have offered assistance in this regard was thrown away by the suspect.
“We want members of the public to assist us and provide information that would help us find the relations of the deceased. We learnt from the suspect that the deceased resided in Umuahia, Abia State, before her demise,” Lakanu pleaded.
Also, the suspect will soon be charged to court after completion of the investigation.
